Indonesia has urged the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to name an envoy to Myanmar immediately. It hopes to end the violence that has been intensifying four months into the coup. More than a month after ASEAN leaders met in Jakarta, little progress has been made to end Myanmar’s crisis. ASEAN’s chair and secretary-general are said to be heading to Myanmar this week to hold talks with military leaders. The five-point agreement discussed in Jakarta will be in the spotlight. The military has said it will only consider the proposals once stability is restored.
